Well defined shoulders are awesome, right? Over the years, I have developed my mental and emotional shoulders a great deal more.
This is basically putting on a layer of thicker skin giving you the ability to make healthy decisions. It also helps you not let things like judgments, comments, stares, etc. from others get to you. It's a big part of being healthy.
This is basically putting on a layer of thicker skin giving you the ability to make healthy decisions. It also helps you not let things like judgments, comments, stares, etc. from others get to you. It's a big part of being healthy.
For example, as an internet personality, I have had my share of positive and negative comments. I believe that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it. This means remaining positive and letting things go that just don't matter. It's also understanding that negativity from others is saying more about the other person than me or you. Get my point?
Stay Positive
Life is too short to live in a negative world and allow unhealthy comments to control how you feel about you.
Staying positive in a society where comparisons are the norm is what will enable you to develop strong mental shoulders. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks or says. This is where you need to remain strong, put on that thick skin, and push on. What matters is how you feel about you. With me?!
The struggle of comparison and feeling judged may be real, but we also add to this issue. Self-inflicted negativity and comparing ourselves to others does nothing for health improvement. It only leads to unhappiness and living an unhealthy life.
You really can't have a positive life if you continue to live in a negative mind. Agreed?
Mental Strength
Developing mental shoulders will help you not sweat the small stuff. It also creates a caring spirit along with emotional strength. It gives you the ability to understand that negative statements come from people who are truly hurting. You discover that many people are often bitter from personal issues left unresolved. They lash out and project their feelings on you or whomever because they haven't learned how to be emotionally healthy.
Developing your mental strength also helps you become a great listener. Instead of arguing back, you become more empathetic. You understand that things are not a personal attack against you, but really a struggle within the person lashing out.
Greater Strength
The beautiful part about improving your mental strength is becoming a positive person in all circumstances. You feel good about you and your abilities to succeed. It's one of the best ways to get motivated and determined to achieve your fitness goals. You have the desire to keep going no matter what.
There is no longer an issue with feeling defeated or hurt by others. You are no longer weighed down by negative comments. You feel a strength even greater than what can be achieved in the gym. You are ready to give all your positive attention to you and your health.
